Napoleon's Invasion of Russia commenced on 24 June 1812, as the formidable Grande Armée crossed the Neman River with the intent of engaging and overcoming the Russian army. The sheer scale of the Grande Armée was striking, comprising over 600,000 troops. Initially, the French forces made significant progress in Russia, claiming various minor skirmishes and achieving a notable victory at Smolensk in August. However, despite the tactical successes, the Russian army consistently eluded the French advances until the pivotal Battle of Borodino near Moscow, where the French secured a hard-fought triumph. Yet, this triumph proved insufficient as the vastness of the Russian terrain and the brutal winter conditions proved insurmountable for the French forces. Consequently, by the conclusion of 1812, the French Army found itself in retreat, ultimately succumbing during its arduous journey home.

Napoleon in Russia authentically recreates five pivotal historical battles from this ill-fated Invasion of Russia, offering players an in-depth experience of these strategic confrontations. Additionally, players can engage in non-historical skirmishes and enjoy a bonus mission for added gameplay variety.

The game's forthcoming updates will introduce in-App purchases that expand on engagements in Russia during 1812.
